Model: TL-ER6120
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.7

Hello, everybody.

So, @ the office i have a TP-Link ER6120 v3 which acts as a VPN server.

Runs great, no issues. Has a couple of TL-R600VPN clients.

Now, i dug up a TL-ER6120 v1 router and i want to set it up as a client.

The hard part kicks in...

I don't know how to configure it as a VPN client to the v3 server which is running.

We use L2TP and the config parameterson the TL-ER6120 v3 are quite different that the ones from the v1

The TL-ER6120 client asks for a VPN pool... if i try to configure a local IP pool, it spits out an error. if i enter the pool of the remote server it's ok, but it's stuck on "connecting".

The user and the password are fine (at least to my knowledge)...

On PPTP it connects (both routers show "connected") but the VPN itself does not work :(

Are they even compatible as server/client?!

For LAN-to-LAN, why not configure IPSec VPN? That will have less compatible issue, and more secure.

Actually, it's L2TP IPSec encryption... does not work in any way.

I guess L2TP IPSec encryption of V1 and V3 may be incompatible. But if you configure IPSec LAN-to-LAN VPN, you can configure a lot of parameters manually.

(L2TP IPSec encryption and IPSec LAN-to-LAN VPN are two different things.)
