Model: ER7206 (TL-ER7206)
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hello all,

I am planning to purchase an ER7206 for one of my sites. The site has an existing setup and I have to upgrade it with this new ER7206 router. But I have some doubt and confusion for the design.

Existing Scenario:

             Gateway router- TP-link C6 Gigabit Router (192.168.0.1/24)

             DHCP Range   - 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254

             Access Points  -  192.168.0.131 to 192.168.0.160

             IP Camera       - 192.168.0.51 to 192.168.0.90

Switches         -  Cisco L2 PoE Managed switches (total 8)

ISSUE: Lack of IP addresses in DHCP pool (because almost 100 IPs have been assigned statically to APs and cameras)

PLEASE KINDLY CHECK THE ATTACHED TOPOLOGY FILE.

Requirement:

           1. More than 512 IP address are required in network.

           2. Total 30 Cambium E400 Access points are there. They already have 2 SSIDs on them (exa: ABC and XYZ).

           3. When user connects to ABC then traffic should go via ISP1 (primary line and ISP2 failover) and when user connects to XYZ its traffic should go via ISP2 (Primary and ISP1 failover ).

---          CAN THESE ACHIEVE BY CONFIGURING VLANs in network?

                     VLAN 1   - Management (existing)

VLAN 10 - For ABC wireless users

VLAN 20 - For XYZ wireless users

                     VLAN 30 - IP Camera

---          ONCE VLANs ARE CONFIGURED ON THE CISCO SWITCHES, WHAT CHANGES ARE NEEDED TO BE MADE ON ER7206 ROUTER?

Please help and guide.

Regards,

SAGAR PATEL

@sagar002100

VLAN is generally used to achieve network isolation, I think if you want to achieve such a demand, you can consider setting policy routing. There is a faq on their official website for you to refer to.

@Yannie Thanks for the reply.

For policy routing, I have some confusion.

We have 2 ISP lines (WAN1=100 MBPS and WAN2=75 MBPS) .

I have set network 192.168.0.0/22 and router's LAN IP address is 192.168.0.1. DHCP range is 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.3.254.

I have configured IP-MAC address reservation for some computer devices (from 192.168.0.201 to 192.168.0.212) and have configure an IP group (KRATOS_LOCAL_DEVICES) for them.

(Some IP address from 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254 are statically assigned to IP cameras, access points, switches)

I want to configure following tasks:

         1. Internet traffic from devices from 192.168.1.201 to 192.168.2.212 should go via WAN1 and if WAN1 is down it should go via WAN2.

         2. Internet traffic from other devices (192.168.1.1 to 192.168.3.254) should go via WAN2 and if WAN2 is down it should go via WAN1.

Please check the snapshot below which I have configured.

POLICY ROUTING Rule-2 is for devices (192.168.0.201 to 192.168.0.212)

In second rule, for all internet traffic, WAN (means WAN1) is primary line. But what if WAN1 is down? Will it start forwarding from WAN2 autimatically or have I to configure another rule?

I have enabled load balancing also. Please check snapshot below for it.

And please suggest something for my second requirement.

Regards,

Sagar Patel
