Can't set up VPN on ER605 - GUI defect?

Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: Latest (just updated)

Hello.

A while back, I set up a TL-ER6020 as a VPN server for individual clients to hook up from their homes. It was a breeze and it works just fine. Here are the settings I used on the TL-ER6020:

LAN IP Address: 10.0.0.1 / 255.255.255.0
DHCP Server: 10.0.0.2 - 10.0.0.99
VPN IP Pool: 10.0.0.201 - 10.0.0.210

Now I'm trying to do the same on a ER605, but the GUI won't let me. Here are the settings I'm using:

LAN IP Address: 192.168.1.1 / 255.255.255.0
DHCP Server: 192.168.1.10 - 192.168.1.239

However, when I try to add this:

VPN IP Pool: 192.168.1.242 - 192.168.1.249

It is rejected with this message:

"The VPN IP pool conflicts with the IP addresses of the LAN. Enter the IP range that will not overlap with that of the LAN."

What am I missing? If it's just that the VPN IP Pool is in the same subnet as the entire LAN IP address space, why is it working just fine on the ER6020 with the same condition?

Thanks.

The ER605 is designed to do just that, you can refer to this article: How to establish an L2TP Server by Omada Gateway in Standalone mode?

The VPN IP Pool need be in the different IP segment from the LAN IP Pool.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I understand the meaning of the message. Since there's no technical requirement behind this limitation (i.e., the ER6020 allows it as does every other VPN client-to-site solution I've used,) my question was if I was just missing something unique in the GUI of the ER605 that I was missing. I guess this is just a defect in the ER605's firmware.
