My network:

 

 * Router: TP-Link ER7206
 * Switch TP-Link TL-SG3210XHP-M2 (8 2.5GbE ports, 2 10G SPF+ ports)
 * AP: TP-Link EAP660HD

 

The TL;DR of the above thread:

 

I have two local machines running speed test servers:

 

 * one with a 10G SPF+ port connected to the 10G SPF+ port on the switch
 * and another that has a 1GbE port connected to a 2.5 GbE port on the switch

 

I run the test on phone 1 (Pixel 3a) to one speed test server and simultaneously on another phone (Pixel 4a) on the other speed test server and get about 220 Mbps down (each phone). If I run the tests independently I get about 400 - 500Mbps (occasionally can get closer to 600).

 

The devices are about 6 feet away from the AP. The house is centered in an acre of land with little channel interference (1-2% max).

 

There are a bunch more tests described in the above linked post, one where I speed test several devices simultaneously (and get like 100-150Mbps per device) then run a [fast.com](https://fast.com) test over WiFi and get a full 220 Mbps down on that device without affecting other device speeds! It's like the AP only permits ~600Mbps over 5Ghz for LAN.

 

I'm thoroughly stumped. Any thoughts?

If you don't mind, you can try to reset this EAP first, then don't set anything, use the default SSID of the EAP to do the test again and see if the result will be reproduced.
If you still have problems, we suggest that you test the speed of the second layer first.


You could try only powering on the EAP, starting with a PC wired to the EAP as a server and a PC wirelessly connected to the EAP as a client.
Then do an iPerf speed test on the client PC to see if the speed is normal.
If so, you can try adding another PC as client PC2, and then still do iPerf speed test on the first client PC to see if the speed will be affected.

@Hank21 Resetting the EAP didn't change the results.

I configured the EAP to connect directly to a PC (no router or switch) and ran the iperf 2 speed tests as instructed:

 

With only a phone running `iperf -c` connected to the AP: 52-78 Mbit/sec
With only a laptop running `iperf -c` connected to the AP: 538-545 Mbit/sec

With both devices running `iperf -c` simultaneously:

  • phone: 24-37 Mbit/sec
  • laptop: 488-495 Mbit/sec

 

Transmit link speed of the phone was 866 Mbps, and transmit link speed of the laptop was also 866 Mbps.

Given that your problem is indeed a bit wired, suggest that you contact support directly to provide more detailed information and do further troubleshooting so that you can better solve the problem.

@Hank21 Thanks. I've run the tests on my other EAP660HD and am seeing the same performance issues. I have even upgraded my WiFi card to a WiFi 6 card; it successfully negotiates a 1.2 Gb/s Connection Speed (so at least the drivers for the new card are working properly) but still can't even sustain 400 Mb/s throughput (using a speed test server, not iperf).
