Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hello,

i just bought an ER605 NAT router with the purpose to use it as a NAT, basically i need it to isolate machines from two separate private networks.

Here is an example of what i'm trying to achieve :

Those are my two machines each in its own private network

PC1 - 192.168.11.1 - NETWORK 1

PC2 - 192.168.22.2 - NETWORK 2

What i need is to create an alias of both of the machines in each of the private networks

PC1           - 192.168.11.1 - NETWORK 1  <-->        ROUTER       <-->  PC2 - 192.168.22.2 - NETWORK 2

PC2ALIAS - 192.168.11.2 - NETWORK 1  <-->    performing NAT  <-->  PC1ALIAS - 192.168.22.1 - NETWORK 2

So PC1 will be able to reach PC2 by using the PC2ALIAS, and the same for PC2 accessing PC1 with PC1ALIAS.

This can be early done with iptables rules putting a linux PC as a router, but i struggle a lot to find the right configuration for the  ER605 (it looks like the NAT function it's not a NAT at all, it just adds a public address).

Is that configuration possible at all?

Thanks for your support!

Marco

@Alfamation

Have you already figured it out?

Actually, if you had the beta or later the stable (v1.1.1) firmware release or even another, the most fresh (v1.2.0) release running on your router, you would have seen the solution.

It is, by default that this router does not isolate subnets BUT you can create ACL rules to prevent your connected networks to see each other, leaving some exceptions, so your PC1 could reach PC2 and vice versa, in the end.

Let us know if you need further help.
