Hi, welcome to the community.

How to Build a Mesh Network via Omada EAP in Your Home

It is okay to use it even it is not under the switch. Please make sure they are in the same network and Omada Controller is running. The mesh is based on the wireless from the root. If the root AP can scan and find the mesh AP, you're good to use them.
