  @Fabfab74

Hello and welcome.

I am sorry that your issue is not clear to me. Are you saying that your Windows PC cannot connect to the VPN? If you are talking about Windows keeps popping up error like "security layer error" when connecting, please refer to the Windows forum/update history to update your computer. L2TP error.

Well, from the DMZ, I don't think you configure the LAN IP of ER605(192.168.1.100) as the rule. You should DMZ the WAN IP of ER605.

You have to also make sure that your modem router supports VPN passthrough. Or you have to open ports UDP500&4500 on your modem router. It is recommended to use static WAN IP on your ER605 for port forwarding.

How to establish an L2TP Server by Omada Gateway in Standalone mode?

It is recommened to use a single NAT. You are now experience a Double-NAT which could cause the setup not easy.

  @Hank21 thank for your reply

This Windows error message:

The L2TP connection attempt failed because the security layer error during processing initial negotiation

My PC is ok to update

IP wan adress is static

UDP ports 500 and 4500 is open

for the wan address 80.xxx.xxx.xxx if I put it in the dmz nothing will point to er605 !!  it will loop

192.168.0.100       ------ 192.168.1.100
isp modem router ------ ER-605

80.xxx.xxx.xxx ------ VPN server
  Static DMZ

If you can test other devices, please test. The error is the the one I am talking about in the previous reply. The L2TP error. That is caused by the Windows update. Windows has released another patch to fix this. Please review the solution above.

  @Hank21

 I tried another L2TP connection on a different site from the same PC and it works very well

I tried this evening to configure a PPTP connection which surprisingly works very well on the TP-LINK I don't see why L2TP isn't working.

  @Fabfab74

Are you saying that you have this computer connected to another L2TP server and there were no errors at all?

I read your posts again and I pointed out in the previous about your port forwarding errors. You should DMZ/port forwarding your WAN IP that you see on ER605. I don't understand your 192.168.1.100. What is that IP? Do you mean that is your LAN IP, your ER605 LAN IP?

If you have trouble with this, I suggest simply your network. Set up your modem to bridge mode and do not use double NAT.

  @Fabfab74

Could you please check the setup guide and the WAN IP and your port forwarding or DMZ settings on your modem router? It would be much easier to test if the L2TP VPN server works or not when you set your modem to bridge mode.

bridge mode is not possible on the LIVEBOX isp french modem/router  @Hank21

DMZ 192.168.1.100 nat port 500 and 4500

PPTP is functional so it passes
