  @Ja2ck7 And who compensates for the financial damage done by TP Link? @Fae ?

  @hammer86

I see this thread is over a year old now, just finished setting up and now this ridiculous thing.

I like how the top of this thread says "2 accepted solutions" when there is no solution. LOL (sort of)

Well I did find a solution actually:

I removed the ER605 from my network and replaced it with a Peplink Balance Two. Cost a ton more but it actually WORKS in ALL regards, and adds significant functionality (a lot of which in my case will probably go unused.)

After spending all the time and money I'm not keen on replacing all the other TP-Link hardware but honestly, now that the Omada value proposition has been mostly diluted, it's going to be hard not to do so. Since basically the network hub (Balance Two w/DHCP, DNS, firewall, etc.) is not recognizable/controllable by the OC300 Omada controller or Omada platform, there's no real reason to stay with TP-Link. Instead, I'll likely be converting to wholesale Peplink as budget allows.

So, thanks TP-Link for the EXPENSIVE education in what not to purchase or rely on as a managed infrastructure. I'll most likely be moving on from this somewhat colossal waste of time, effort and money.

I think over a year is enough time to either correct what appears to be a minor lift, or just come out and say "Sorry for the design oversight, it's not possible to fix it."

And even better to add to the latter: "But, if you currently have an Omada controller, trade it in and we'll give you a break on our new product that does have local DNS capability." (read 'basic, expected functionality in an external facing router')

In the mean time... anyone want to buy an ER605 relatively inexpensively? 😂

Hi all,

We are 6 months further now and i would love to know if theres any progress on this?

I still dont see any kind of local-dns server possibilities. Neither in the BETA build.

I have personally given up! I have added a pihole to my network and configured it as the DHCP server. While this is a work-around, it can buy a bit of time to re-assess tp-link or go with a more feature-complete offering.

  @Fae

Where are we with this? 16 Pages of comments and requests for a very basic feature...

I wish I hadn't bought so much Omada equipment.

This is rediculous that name resolution cannot occur with Omada.
