Hi,

I am looking at the TL-SX3008F 10G SFP+ switch and looking at the documentation I haven't been able to determine whether I can connect the TL-SX3008F 10G SFP+ switch to a 1G Netgear GS716Tv3 via it's SFP Port.

If it is achievable what would be required to be achieve it. I'm assuming

1. 1G SFP Transceiver Module plugged into TL-SX3008F

2. 1G SFP Transceiver Module plugged into GS716Tv3

3. Multimode fibre connecting the two SFP Transceiver Modules

Or is this incorrect - I want to ensure this is achievable so I can ensure devices plugged into the TL-SX3008F and GS716Tv3 can communicate with each other.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks

Richard

Hi. Similarly, SFP+ is backward compatible. Since this is a SFP+ switch, you need to make sure the module is compatible with the switch and all is good.

By default, the SX3008F can auto negotiate with the SFP module you used, if that is not correctly negotiate to 1Gbps, please log in to the switch and manually set the port to 1Gbps. By default, the port is on Auto(-negotiate)

About the choice of your fiber cable, pick up the cable first or the module first. Either way, you need to buy the necessary accessories relying on the specs of the module/fiber.

  @Hank21

Thanks Hank21,

So to be clear I'll need a

1. SFP Module  to plug into SX3008F

2. SFP Module to plug into 716T

3. Multi-mode fibre to connect the two switches.

The SX3008F should then auto-negotiate to use 1Gbps and all is connected.

That's what I mean. In this post, you said it's multi-mode fiber, so, pick up the multi-mode modules and plug them in. And connect. All looking good. smiley
