Hi, I have the ER605 configured with two WAN ports, WAN and WAN/LAN1.  My server is on the LAN with a static IP address.  I have configured Virtual Server to forward port 22 (ssh) to my server using WAN/LAN1.

 

I find that I can ssh to the WAN/LAN1 public address successfully, but only half the time -- the other half of the time, apparently randomly, the connection fails.  The connection is not refused, it just freezes.

 

I have "Enable load balancing" checked and Application Optimized Routing and Bandwidth Based Routing disabled.  Any other load balancing settings result in the ssh connections always failing.

 

My guess is that half the time, the reply packets are going out through the wrong WAN.  Is there a way to fix this?

Maybe you can set a policy routing rule to fix it.

Specify the WAN interface, the Service type.
