Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.0 Build 20220114 Rel.76871

Good Evening,

I'm writing to seek your assistance with how to send certain traffic through VPN and all other traffic through my WAN.

I've got the L2TP client configured and working without any issues, the L2TP client working mode is NAT, however; when changed to route I'm unable to access the internet.

I've tried static routing and policy routing without success, let me know if there is anything that I'm doing incorrectly and/or how or if it is possible to send certain traffic through the VPN. Please note I do not have access to the VPN server as it is a private VPN server.

Regards,

GeoStigma

  @GeoStigma

If you use this router in Standalone mode, then after setting up the VPN, when you go to set up policy routing, you can see that the WAN option can be selected as VPN, just check it.
If you are using a controller to manage the ER7206, then when setting up the VPN, local networks can directly specify specific intra-LAN traffic.

  @Virgo Good evening, and thank you for taking the time to reply to my message. On that note are you sure this applies to my device TP-Link ER605?

See below what I have under policy routing.

  @Virgo Thanks again for your reply. Quick question what if the IP/Subnet group that I would like to exclude from being sent over the tunnel is not terminated on the ER605?

For example, let's say I have another network (10.10.100.0/24) that is not terminated on the ER605 however, I use a static route to route traffic for the (10.10.100.0/24) subnet to 192.168.0.1 <-- the ER605 LAN. My question is if I added the subnet (10.10.100.0/24) under the IP group for this example I will call it LAN2 and configure policy routing to send that traffic via the WAN interface with L2TP VPN client connected will that send the traffic to the WAN or VPN? See below screenshots.

Thanks,

GeoStigma
