ER605 DNS slowness

As reported by others, seeing extreme delays when using ER605 for DNS. even hardcoded the ER's DNS servers to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8, no change.
If I hardcode my clients to use external DNS servers directly, I do not see this problem. I've tried to set the DHCP scope to only use external servers, but it still inserts the routers' IP as the first DNS server.

Generally speaking, the DNS for devices within the LAN is the router by default, and the DNS for the WAN port is the default gateway for the router.
Which DNS are you specifically referring to that has delay issues?

When any of my clients behind the 605 get DHCP, the first DNS server they get is the ER605 itself, even when I have the scope set to use only external servers. Some sites resolve quickly, others take upwards of 10 seconds. If I hardcode DNS on the clients to only use external DNS servers, this doesn't happen.

Yeah I have the same issue with the deployed ER605s v1 i have.
I set in the LAN DHCP config that first DNS server is the the ISPs dns or 1.1.1.1.
The ER605 v2 in my testing only adds a few ms delay to DNS queries, which is promising.
