Hi,

I've set up a couple of APs with a POE switch and the ER605 router.  All TP Link.  I've switched my ISP router/modem to bridge mode.  My ISP has confirmed the TG588v2 can be turned into a modem via bridge mode.

TG558 = PPPoE, MTU = 1492, VLAN enabled and VLAN id = 101

ER605 = connected WAN to TG588 port 1, ISP credentials have been double checked, IPV6 = off, internet VLAN enabled = 101, use default mac address

I can connect devices to the APs but the software controller keeps spitting out the following error 'failed to obtain the IP address for WAN because no response from the server'.

I got into the home network stuff because building works meant cabling was easy and to stretch my rusted brain.  So I've probably made a rookie mistake somewhere.  Any help much appreciated.

  @BruntiMan

You can try setting the WAN connection type to Dynamic IP on the ER605, if you can access the internet normally, then the front ISP router is not set to bridge mode.

If you can't access the internet either, suggest to make sure that the PPPOE account information and VLAN ID information entered on the ER605 are correct.
Also what is the WAN IP after setting up?

Just striving to develop myself while helping others.

  @Virgo

Thanks for the response.  I'm afraid I just used a brute force settings change approach to crack the code.

Here are the settings that got my TG588V2 working as a modem and my ER605 talking to my UK Onestream (actually Vodafone) ISP.

TG588V2

VDSL

routed type = bridge

MTU = 1492

VLAN enabled = Y

VLAN ID = 101

ER605

Type = PPoE

Get IP address from ISP = Y

MTU = 1492

Internet VLAN = Y + 101

Internet VLAN priority = 2

Secondary connection = none

IPV6 = No

Use default MAC address = Y

The only thing now not cooperating are my Teckin smart plugs which refuse to be shifted over from an old wirelss router to an Internet of Things wireless network I've added on the ER605.  Maybe another post !!  Thanks again.
