Model: ER7206 (TL-ER7206)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.3

I have encountered a strange issue with a Omada network I am managing. This problem occurs rarely.

Has anyone else seen this problem or have any idea why it is happening?

Network layout:

Provider’s router -> Omada ER7206 router -> Omada switch -> My laptop

Symptoms:

  1. Ping from my laptop does not work for any domain
  2. Omada cloud access does not connect
  3. Accessing one website does not work, other websites I tried DO work
  4. When connected to the provider’s router (bypassing the Omada network), everything works

What I tried:

  1. Restart provider’s router -> no fix
  2. Restart Omada router -> no fix
  3. Disconnect & re-connect WAN from Omada panel (selected ER7206 in Omada devices list, go to WAN, click Disconnect, click Connect) -> FIX

@Eric2022

What is the version of your controller?

Ping from my laptop does not work for any domain

If you ping those IP address, can it ping through?

  @Virgo The controller is on 5.7.4.

It is just the ping protocol that stops working. DNS resolution works, so if I try to ping Google.com for example, it will get the IP address and try that but every ping will timeout. I can also go to the site in a browser. If I ping an IP directly, it does not work either.

  @Eric2022

Are you connected by DHCP on the WAN or PPPOE?

By chance have you confirmed that your client is getting handed DHCP properly?  The DNS and Gateway being handed out to the client?

  @KimcheeGUN WAN connected by DHCP. The provider's router on the WAN side is configured to provide the ER7206 a static IP. I also rebooted both provider and ER7206 routers and that didn't help. It was only when I do to the Omada panel and disconnect / re-connected there that the problem went away. On the client side, I did not check DHCP specifically, but the client seemed to work correctly - I could go to websites and access the Omada portal.
