For example, you have a EAP currently installed in your office, adopted by your local controller. Controller has static IP 192.168.0.10.

One day you want to move this EAP and the controller to another router's network. On that new router, the controller will receive a static IP like 10.0.0.10.

If you move the controller and the EAP to the new router directly, the controller will not be able to adopt the EAP automatically. Since the EAP still thought it's controller is 192.168.0.10;

While if you enable Device management here, the controller will tell EAP "your controller is 10.0.0.10 now". Means the EAP will disconnect from the controller, but will come back when your controller and EAP are connected to the new router.
