Hello all

Anyone experiencing random internet (wifi) drops with EAP245 ?

As far as I can tell it drops connection on my Iphone once or twice a day.

Wondering how do I go about troubleshooting this?

Thanks

  @ProSumerTester

If you think its the DNS server... just change the DNS Server to the router's IP.  This will confirm and be the quickest way to test if the DNS server is working.  The DNS request will pass through the Router.

Also... you can have good signal but bad RX TX, which means you have interference.

  @KimcheeGUN

I moved my dns box and connected it with cable to GW (connected to same VLAN) and its seems to be working better.
I also added second DNS which is connected to switch downstairs. So far no issues, but I suspect that mesh connection to downstairs box is unstable hence dropping dns queries.

  @ProSumerTester have you tried to reboot the eap? any special configuration on the eap that make it not stable, like RSSI thresh hold or sth? or maybe it is the physical issue, try to replace another cable and reconnect it with the poe switch to see if it can help

  @Giang97

Thanks for responding, I had no time to look at the issue and been living with it for sometime.

I reboted both EAP and did the same with GW and switch. I also replaced network cables but issue remains.

I did not change anything or played with RSSI or STH.

  @ProSumerTester Is the issue present on other wireless devices or just your iPhone?

  @ProSumerTester

During outage... grab your laptop and login to the controller / Or the GUI of the AP.  Check Signal Strength on that client.

Finding signal levels is the 1st thing you should do.

During that time, Check the RX/TX is the numbers are LOW, that means there is interference.

Same can be seen on all wireless devices.

  @KimcheeGUN

I do not believe that signal is the issue as wifi bars on devices are "full strength".

Wifi nodes are 4-5 meters apart and there is light wooden wall in between.

I'm suspecting issue with my DNS which is runing on one of mine docker containers.
I've added second dns and testing as we speak.

Would like to have something that can test dns and connection to internet and logged it for further analysys.

Any suggestions?
