(Please note, the device I'm discussing is not available in the Model drop-down, so I picked an incorrect one because that field is mandatory).

I'd like to know what is the actual coverage range for the recently released EAP683 LR, particularly as compared to the EAP680.

When comparing both through the website, the only difference appears in "Transmission Power" which makes sense, but doesn't tell me much about the actual effective range.

Can someone please point me to any docs clarifying the "Long-Range Coverage" term?

Hello @BerthaNates,

It has been confirmed that there are only some differences in names, but the actual performance is basically the same. And note that the EAP683 LR doesn't contain the Power adapter.

Hi @Spryde,

I'm afraid we haven't any EAPs support the Zero Wait DFS currently. There is a similar request post here, and I have recorded and reported it to the developer team for evaluation.

Update:  After confirming to the Support Team again, we only have one on-sale EAP support at the moment, which is EAP670.

Please check the specification of this EAP: https://www.tp-link.com/en/business-networking/omada-wifi-ceiling-mount/eap670/#specifications

  @Hank21

Hold up... With the LR label, there isn't bigger antennas?  Just more output power, right?

BUT KUDO's for making this bad boy flatter and more slim line.  My clients will like this model better than the big chonkers.

Hi @KimcheeGUN,

Compare to EAP680, they have the same antenna types, and only the difference are in Transmission power and package composition.

Thanks for your Feedback. Does EAP683 LR have Zero Wait DFS?

Does any of your EAPs have Zero Wait DFS?

@Hank21 Can we install firmware of EAP683LR on EAP680 AP?

I'm asking this because I couldn't find any firmware for EAP680 on any of the European TP-Link websites.

Would you mind providing us the download URL for the latest firmware for EAP680, V1.0, EU?

No, it doesn't support firmware upgrades between different hardware versions.

Thank you for your inquiry about the EAP680 v1 firmware release. At this time, we do not have a specific release date for the firmware, but we are working hard to ensure that it is fully tested and functioning properly before it is released to our users. We understand your eagerness to receive the new firmware update, and we appreciate your patience while we work to make sure it meets our high standards. Please keep an eye on our official website or forums for any updates on the firmware release. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to ask. Thank you!

Thank you for your answers. Will the EAP68x series get Zero Wait DFS support with future firmware updates?

For those interested into latest firmware version for EAP680 V1.0 EU version, you may find it here - https://www.tp-link.com/ph/support/download/eap680/#Firmware. I've already downloaded and installed it and got ~10% improvement on WiFi speeds on both upload and download but also Jitter and Ping improvements).
