We utilize various POE switches, including 8-port, 24-port, and 48-port models, all sourced from TP-Link. We implement a PD device with a power rating of up to 10W, employing the LM5071 as our POE PD IC. Preceding this IC, we use RJ45 and a signal transformer (749013011A) separately. Unfortunately, we've encountered issues with multiple POE PD IC failures and burnt signal transformer ICs. Our suspicion falls on the POE switch, potentially due to spikes or overcurrent, especially considering that out of 240 devices, 20 are experiencing this issue and their ICs have been damaged. give some technical support.

Hi @SUNDARAMOORTHI

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

Never encountered such a problem. First, our switch is 802.3 compliant which means 802.3 should not be damaging to the PD IC anyway.

Any concrete evidence to indicate that the problem is on the switch?

For yourself, have you done checks on the IC and cables you have?

IC specs? Power specs?

If your devices are PoE PD compliant, that should be no problem as both the switch and your PD have the PoE controller which should correctly link the power consumption.

I would not think this is a problem with the switch so far as zero evidence indicates that the switch is the perp.
