Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 5.1.6

Hello,

I am running a

TL-SG2428P v3.0 Switch,

two

EAP225 v5 AP

one

EAP653 V1 AP

and one

EAP225-Outdoor v3 AP.

All three "indoor" APs work like a charme, with PoE delivered from the switch.

further more two IP-Cameras are plugged to the switch using PoE and work as well.

Only the EAP225-Outdoor AP is not starting.

My switch is showing a "flash" for indicating, that PoE is active

#show power inline information interface gigabitEthernet 1/0/24       ### is switching:

Interface  Power(w)  Current(mA)  Voltage(v)  PD-Class  Power-Status
---------- --------  -----------  ----------  --------  ----------------
Gi1/0/24   8.3       158          52.5        Class 4   ON

Interface  Power(w)  Current(mA)  Voltage(v)  PD-Class  Power-Status
---------- --------  -----------  ----------  --------  ----------------
Gi1/0/24   0.2       4            52.7        Class 4   ON

and

#show cable-diagnostics interface gigabitEthernet  1/0/24
Port             Pair      Status      Length         Error
Gi1/0/24    Pair-A    Open         ---           28 (+/- 2m)
                  Pair-B    Open        ---            30 (+/- 2m)
                  Pair-C    Open        ---            28 (+/- 2m)
                  Pair-D    Open        ---            29 (+/- 2m)

But the cable is fine -

I tried multible cables, and I checked PoE using an different AP (EAP115) which worked fine using PoE as well.
Using the included PoE Adapter works fine as well.

So I'd like to know if there is anything else I can try to get the AP working as it should, as specifications say, that it has to work with the switch.

Greetings and Thanks

Rabb1t

  @Rabb1t

Please try connecting it to the switch using an unshielded cable. Please try connecting it to a different port on the switch as well. If it's still not working, the EAP225 outdoor's built-in PoE functionality is probably broken. It uses passive PoE, not standard PoE, to power itself when plugged in to its PoE adapter. For a replacement, get in touch with local support.
Way to contact local support

Oh my gosh - that's something you have to know, not? ^^ Using an unshielded cable did the trick. Is there any logical reason why it is that problematic? shouldn't that be working like all the other APs as well?

  @Rabb1t

I believe the unit's capacity to detect the PoE is sensitive. It is in fact abnormal. If you purchased it recently, you can try contacting the retailer to obtain the most current hardware or consider EAP610 Outdoor.
