Hi, when setting up the SSID I have the option to enable multiple bands (2.4, 5, & 6).

For older clients that can do both 2.4MHz and 5GHz should I create seperate SSID for each freq?

Or will these clients be able to detect that 5GHz has become weak (as it moves away from the AP) and then switch to 2.4MHz?

I know I could create an SSID with only 2.4MHz and only connect to that but I'd like to use the 5GHz speeds when the signal is good.

Yes you can create separate SSIDs for each band but really shouldn't have too. You can set a minimum rssi level for the 5.8 band and that should kick the client device off forcing a move to 2.4. The main problem lies withing the clientside devices, you can never really know what they are going to do. It could just be bad coding in the RF stack that doesn't do the right thing. Happens alot with iCrap™ devices, yes some people are going to cry because what I said and their feelings are hurt, oh well.

Thanks, Jeff.  That makes sense. I will give the the rssi setting a try.
