Model: ER8411
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: v. 1.2.1

Hi,

Our ER8411 fans are very noisy. Using our OM200 controller, I see that the fan is in the high all the time eventhough the temperature is 47-49 C. I assume it is because of the SFP+ modules we are using, which causes the fan to ramp up to high at >=66 C.

Is there anyway at all, even through the command line, to manually turn down the fans. or at least increate the threshold of the SFP+ temperatures at which the fans ramp up.

For eg. we also have a Mikrotik CCR2004 router, where we can adjust the threshold temperatures.

The router is in our office space and the noise causing quite an irritation.

Any help would be welcome.

Thank you

@redskill I can't offer a firmware solution but when I've had noisy tp-link PoE switches, I replace the factory fans with ones from Noctua .... Mike

Having said this, I'm also interested in a solution to this, as we're going to put SFP's in some tp-link kit.

I have noticed stranger behaviour.

1. When the switch starts up, the fan remains in the stop position, for almost the whole day, even without the AC on, the temperature of the router was stable, about 58 C the whole day.

2. Sometime during the night, the fans turn on. The next morning, the fans are on, at high speed and noisy, even though the temperature of the router is now 48 C only.

3. We turned up the AC, the ambient temperature was about 23 C, the router was at 42 C BUT the fans are still on at high speed!

4. It continued that way for the next few hours, router temp at 42 C, ambient temp at 23 c and the fans remained at High

5. Finally, we rebooted the router, now the fans are off.

It seems, once the fans turn on, they don't turn off or even slow down even if the temperature of the router goes down
