Model: CPE210
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 2.2.3 Build 20201110 Rel. 66916 (5553)

Question

One of my pair of CPE210s that I've used for a long time died. Point-to-point really isn't necessary in my case given the distance.  I'd rather have a general AP for outside of the house, and wanted to pull things into Omada as much as I can so I bought a EAP650 to replace the CPE that I was using as an AP. I'm trying to connect the other CPE210 in client mode to the EAP650. Which I thought that I should be able to do.  But doesn't seem to be working. I go through the client setup, put in correct IP, etc., and pick the SSID of the EAP650 under the wireless setup, apply. That all seems to work fine. But I don't see a connection to the 650. Same with any other APs that I try - no connection.  I have Omada all set up and working otherwise. Passwords are correct.  The 650 is working fine as an AP for other devices.  Things connect to it just fine.   What am I doing wrong?

Hi  @Netropy

Yes. CPE210 should be able to connect to other 2.4G wifi signals.

This time, you may create a 2.4G only SSID on the EAP, and set the encryption mode as WPA-personal, don't enable any advanced settings.

If you can go through the client mode setup, but still fail to get internet access from the client CPE, please share us with the following information.

1. a screenshot of the CPE status page;

2. Plug a PC into the LAN port of the CPE POE injector, set the PC as DHCP, check what IP address the PC will get, and let us know.

Creating a 2.4G-only SSID on the EAP650 Outdoor seems to be the trick.  Once I did that it connected right up.  Think I'm OK from here.

Thanks for your help.  Appreciate it.

Hi  @Netropy

Are you using EAP650 or EAP650-outdoor?

EAP650 outdoor can work in repeater mode.

You may refer to the following guide to configure it as repeater mode:

How to configure Omada EAP in Repeater mode

  @Vincent-TP

Thanks for the response.

It's the EAP650 Outdoor.  I don't want to set it up as the remote.  I want it wired to my main network with the CPE210 as the remote client to it.i.e.  The EAP650 on the house, the CPE210 on an outbuilding as below:

House--POE Switch--EAP650 OUTDOOR <<< WiFi >>> CPE210--POE switch--various devices

Same config as I had working with two CPE210s prior to one of the pair dying but substituting the EAP650 for the AP.  The EAP650 also serving as a general AP for other wireless devices.

Hi  @Netropy

Thanks for the clarification. That's clear.

so the network is working, the issue is "But I don't see a connection to the 650"?

Do you mean you can't see a connection on the Omada controller?

Regarding the connection, do you mean various devices plugged into the POE switch are not displaying on the Omada controller client list?

  @Vincent-TP No, the network isn't working.  That's my problem - I can't get the CPE210 to simply connect to the EAP650 as a client.  In the client setup for the CPE210, I can see and pick the EAP650 Outdoor in the list when I do the survey.  But it doesn't make the connection.  If I look at the client list for the EAP650 I see other clients that are connected to it but not the CPE210.  Password and security setup are correct.  I've tried turning off security with the same result.  On the CPE210 I see no radio connection statistics.  Same when trying to connect it to several other TP-Link APs/SSIDs that I have running.  Everything else connects to whatever just fine.

Just to be clear at the most simple level, I *should* be able to connect the CPE210 as a WiFi client to pretty much any AP correct?

It is like the CPE210 may not be fully compatible with the EAP650 in client mode. Double-check that both devices are running the latest firmware versions. Also, make sure the settings for the CPE210 in client mode, including IP address, subnet, and gateway, are correctly configured. If that doesn't resolve the issue honista apk, you might want to try resetting the CPE210 and reconfiguring it from scratch or test with a different AP to rule out a specific device issue.

Have you checked the wireless mode settings on the EAP650? It might help to ensure it's set to support legacy game marketing agency devices like the CPE210.
