I attempted the upgrade when notification came up in my controller. An upgrade attempt gives back this error message.
"The upgrade file is invalid. Please select a correct file."
The release notes indicate the latest version is "1.0.1 Build 20210113 Rel.35074". However, the controller reports message below after upgrade fails.
"Failed to upgrade DEVICENAMEHERE to firmware version 1.0.0 Build 20200930 Rel.36519 online."

Dear @aargyri,

Did you upgrade the TL-R605 by uploading the firmware bin file through cloud access(https://omada.tplinkcloud.com)?
It's highly recommended to upgrade the firmware from Local Access. If the system LED keep staying OFF even when you try to hard reset the router by holding the reset hole for ~10s, I'm afraid that the router could be bricked.
To better assist you, may I know your region and where you purchased the router from?

Dear @runawayjimothy,
"Failed to upgrade DEVICENAMEHERE to firmware version 1.0.0 Build 20200930 Rel.36519 online."
Please ensure that you are accessing the Omada Controller via the controller IP from local network when you try to upgrade the device.
You may download the firmware and upload the firmware bin file on Devices page(under Config->Manage Device) from the omada controller to upgrade the firmware.
Attention:
Do NOT turn off the power during the upgrade process, as it may cause permanent damage to the product.

The TL-R605 download page indicates that this release is available for hardware version V1.6. I bought my TL-R605 only a few weeks ago and it is version 1.0. Will this update work on my TL-R605?
Thanks,

Correct that is the method I used in my local network. My device version is 1.0, bought in January 2021, but the Omada controller didn't indicate a hardware device version requirement.
Here are the screen caps. I'm not doing anything fancy here. Clicking the "Upgrade" produces the error message I reported.

Let me clarify. This ER605 has not been adopted into the Omada controller. I plan to upgrade using its stand alone management software. I'm located in the US and when I use the stand alone method I must first download the update from a TP-Link download website. Then I select that download using the stand alone management software. So, the TP-Link download page indicates the required hardware for each firmware upgrade and it indicated V1.6 for this one. Since my ER605 is V1.0, I'm concerned that the upgrade may not work.
Update: I found in the release notes on the download that this new firmware supports hardware V1. But at the top of the page it says in very bold letters
"Download for TL-R605 V1.60". That's what confused me. Thanks

Dear @aargyri,
I bought the router from www.wnc.com.cy Cyprus
Thank you. If the router is bricked, I think you can try to contact the store where you purchase it for a warranty replacement.

Do not worry about it, the TL-R605 firmware is the same for both V1.0 and V1.6. Sorry for the confusion.
