SX3206HPP fans spin up as soon as 10GBase-T device connected
Hi all
My SX3206HPP spins up the fans audibly as soon as I connect a 10GBase-T device to it. Since the switch is in the office this is rather annoying. Limiting the port speed to 1000M will resolve this (2.5G/5G still cause the fan to spin). The fan is spinning even if the device/link is pretty idle.
Is this expected behaviour and is there anything I can do to turn off the fan if not strictly needed (i.e. the device gets hot)
As the CPU usage is 2.6% average / 4% maximum, I'd expect the fan not being required.
Thanks in advance

Hi @SvenT
Thanks for posting in our business forum.
10G is hot disregard if there is a load or not. When there is a load, it would even get hotter. To avoid performance issues due to overheating, it is the pre-set fan strategy and we tuned based on the tests we've run.
It also takes into consideration the airflow and other aspects. If this is a problem for you, you may consider returning it or placing it in the server room.
Please do not dismantle the product to exchange the fan which will void your warranty.
For the SFP+, we even recommend you avoid populating too closely.
