Hi all

I have zero experience with sfp or sfp+ cable and modules etc.

I'm looking to connect my ER7212PC to my SG2428LP with a sfp cable.

Will the SM6220-1M do the job?

Thanks

Chris

Hi @Raptor6L

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

This is overkill for the system.

Do you have 25Gbps switches? At least not from the models you've listed, ER7212PC and SG2428LP. They are both gigabit SFP. Not even SFP+.

25G is overkill for this setup unless you prepare to keep it for the future in case you upgrade them to 25Gb network.

Anyway, that's an overkill and regular 1Gbps SFP module and DAC cable would work.

Or consider the cheaper one and also future-proof, SFP+ DAC:

Thanks  @Clive_A

Not sure what I was doing there, I posted the completely wrong cable model number. I was on nightshift, so I'm going to blame that.

Yeah, correct, it's only a 1Gb connection so wasn't looking for anything extravagant. I meant to post this one TXC432-CU1M which doesn't specify what speed it's rated for, so assumed (with the others being 25Gb and 10Gb rated) it might be a 1Gb cable.

I've since found elsewhere it's also a 10Gb jobbie and more expensive that the TL-SM5220-1M you've recommended, so it's an easy decision.

Thanks again, appreciate the help. 🙂
