I've updated the living room AP with this beta firmware 5.2.90. Will test for about a week or so how this works out.

Hi  @ReneS89

Where did you get the beta firmware? Did you contact the support team?

If there's any progress, please don't hesitate to share with us.

  @Guichanism Hi, I've received this firmware for testing purposes regarding the disconnects of several devices. According to TP-LINK staff, it's a firmware developed specifically for my use case scenario. So I don't know if this will make situation better for you or not. If the AP's are bricked there should be a way to re-flash them using the TFTP method. Otherwise, try 5.0.6 if you are having stabilitity issues.

If you insist I can send you a link in private to this firmware. Note that my EAP245v3's are the EU model.

Re:EAP245 5.2.0 firmware
Monday - last edited Monday

I was checking some things and i just came across this page: https://support.omadanetworks.com/en/product/eap245/v3/?resourceType=download
It says EAP245(EU)_V3_5.3.3 Build 20250627 can be downloaded but it's not possible to downgrade anymore.
Funny enough, in the omada cloud/app it says the last version is 5.2.0.
Anyone tried this yet? I'm a bit afraid to do so to be honest..

EDIT: wanted to check on one EAP245 to see what it did. It says it's a wrong firmware file... hmm.. It gets werider by the day with TP-Link.

  @dagoosemusic That's an interesting find. But actually it doesn't say it's not possible, it's forbidden ! Is also mentions an added enhancement by encrypting the firmware. So I'm thinking out loud TP-LINK actually means it's impossible to downgrade to an older firmware ?

And I honestly don't know what to think of that.

First of all;

I don't know if this is even allowed, and legally it doesn't make any sense to me. Consumers bought the device, so they own the device and have the right to use whatever official firmware they want. That is -of course- without tampering with it hardware-wise (like modded antenna's, opening the device).

Therefore If people use the product as intended, how would TP-LINK forbid anyone to downgrade ?

Example. Let's say I upgrade to 5.3.3 and experience problems with it. So I downgrade again, I would thus ignore TP-LINK's instructions on how to use the product, so that would then void my warranty ? And the million dollar question is. Would I even be able to downgrade to an older version or am I stuck with 5.3.3 ?

At the moment there's quite some problems reported with the 5.2.0 firmware. People upgrading to this 5.3.3 version simply don't know what to expect.

So ...

@Vincent-TP (or any other TP-LINK staffer) Can you please shed a light on this ?

- Can consumers still downgrade from 5.3.3 to the older 5.0.6 if the reported issues still exist ?
- Does the 5.3.2/3 firmware make a downgrade completely impossible ?
- And on what basis is it forbidden to downgrade ?

@dagoosemusic

For firmware versions explicitly marked forbidden to downgrade in the release notes, this typically indicates significant underlying code changes that prevent reverting to older versions.

If you encounter issues after upgrading:

  1. Contact our support team – We'll help troubleshoot and resolve problems
  2. Rest assured we never retain problematic firmware as the official latest release
  3. Any confirmed firmware-related issues will be prioritized for fixes via updates

@Vincent-TP Ok, so it clears up the following;

The release notes forbid people to downgrade from 5.3.3 to an older version, but it's simply impossible due to code changes.
So that's an incorrect statement in the release notes then.

1. No complaints on the support team here, I'm very satisfied with the help I'm getting.

2. As this and other topics show, 5.2.0 has some issues and the firmware is still available on the support page. Although from 5.2.0 we can at least roll-back, some people weren't so lucky and were left with a bricked device. If the same goes for 5.3.2/3 and there is no possibility of rolling back, that's quite a g@mble. (I know my luck in the casin0...)

3. I just hope 5.3.3 is solid as a rock and didn't inherit any issues of version 5.2.0. For now I'll await the reply of the support team as they received my devices' logs yesterday.
