Hello,

I'm unable to connect to the PPTP VPN server enabled on router. Connection has been tried from Windows 7/8 and from iOS devices. Incoming connections through the router work fine otherwise. Anybody else with this problem?

Thanks,

Lancwe

Hi, Lancwe

Connect your host with Windows 7 to WAN interface of your router, configure static ip addresses, reboot router and test VPN again.

Hi,

I was able to connect to VPN server this way. Also I'm able to connect using routers LAN ip address. I'm still however unable to connect to the VPN outside of LAN using the WAN IP address. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Lancwe

Do you have a real ip address outside of LAN when connecting to your router via VPN?

If not - all ISP routers outside of your LAN must support "PPTP pass through" feature.

Yes, the ip address given by ISP is real. I also contacted them regarding this issue and their answer was that PPTP should work and they're not blocking anything. Even more puzzling is that I managed to connect to the VPN a couple of times using iPhone's iOS client and 3G network. Worked for a couple of minutes, then unable to connect again.

Edit: Tried with another ISP - now working correctly. Thanks for replies.

BR,

Lancwe
