Poor network performance
Region : Canada
Model : TL-ER5120
Hardware Version : V2
Firmware Version : 1.0.8 Build 20140212 Rel.36037
ISP : Shaw Cable
We are experiencing very poor network performance when doing large file transfers between computers(100+GB). All computers in the network are on Gigabit and all switches are Gigabit. We have a database we need to access on the server for our POS and it slows to a crawl whenever we are doing large backups/data transfers. The transfers affect the databse whether we are copying to/from the server or direct computer to computer, so it not a server issue. All the data is lan to lan, we do download updates from the web, but that does not seem to affect the network.
Just a little background we are a computer repair/service center and we do backups/transfers to new computers on a daily basis.
I guess my main question would be, is there a way to limit the bandwidth on certain lan ports so as not to disrupt the database access?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Shaun.
