Hi!

 

As I could not find a question in the existing entries that would help me, I have opened a new thread.
 

I have a TL-SL2428P switch. This switch has 4 Gigabit ports. I am not able to use these ports because I seem to be doing something wrong. When I connect directly with a laptop to port 25, I see that the LEDs of the switch and the network card show activity. However, no IP is assigned to my laptop.

 

I have tried the following settings on the Gigabit port:

 

Profile = LAN1

Profile Overrides = true

Operation = switching

Link Speed = Manual Auto/Full Duplex

Port Isolation = false

Flow Controlo = true

EEE = false

Loopback Control = Loopback Detection Port Based

Bandwidth Control = off

DHCP L2 Relay = false
 

With Profile Overrides = false I'm also not able to use the port 25 - 28.

 

Can someone help me out?

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

No IP does not mean you have a bad port or switch. If the rest of the ports work.

You should check if you have a working uplink and a DHCP server with the same VLAN ID.

 

Wireshark and see if there is any DHCP reply. How Does DHCP Work? Common Questions and Solutions

Or consider resetting the switch if you don't know what might be wrong. See if that specific port works or not.

Update!

 

@Clive_A your message has helped me to solve my problem, I can now use the Gigabit ports 25 - 28.

1) Your hint that the ports do not have to be defective helped me, which gave me a new direction of thought.

2) Your suggestion to reset the switch gave me the idea to restart the switch, something I hadn't even considered yet.

 

The restart finally got everything up and running.

Thank you for your Answer! 

 

I have done everything except for reseting the switch, including what was described in the links.

I have a DHCP configuration for the VLAN for the Gigabit port. I can see DHCP Discover messages in Wire Shark, nothing more.

 

Result: Self assigned IP Address 169.254.213.191

 

I'll assume a lack of knowledge on my part and leave it at the remaining ports.
