I bought this router in early November. Around Christmas it completely locked up, had to unplug it. Has happened twice since then, the most recent time, a few minutes ago, I confirmed it was the router, could still access other stuff on my local network but could not access the router's web interface. I have the wireless turned off, only using it as a wired router.
Already on the latest firmware so not sure what else I can do. Open to any ideas.

That is very strange. I have not experienced anything like this before. If you have the latest firmware make sure that after you upgraded it you did a factory restore and reconfigured it from scratch. After that then we can troubleshoot.

As i wrote to my threat, this is happening to me after connecting on the router with VPN (PPTP) Web interface is not responding, Does not answer to dns queries and telnet stops responding too.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to this...
I did as you suggested, factory reset it then reconfigured it. Didn't help. It locks up every few days now.
On my recommendation a friend had bought one before this issue started, theirs is locking up too, but not as frequently.

made some test... guess the suspects is utorrent and/or tibia game but couldn't confirm
does that sounds familiar to you??
however don't have answer to fix the problem and hope tp-link find the problem and release new firmware (i'm using firmware v1-141031)

Have had this router for 4 days and rebooted 10 times.
locks up after a few hours, have tried latest firmware and have factory restored 4 times, wireless drops out and cant get to login page, always have to restart router to get it working again.
I think I will get another one as a warranty claim but I hope this is not a common occurrence with this model:(

Router locking up

I am having the same issues with my ER604W v1, a few days fine, then without any reason, it will lock up and require a hard reboot. When I did a firmware upgrade some months ago, I completely reset it to factory settings to be sure. No change. In fact, the hanging is now worse than the original firmware it was shipped with.
I am currently running 20141031 Rel.32628s
Is there a newer firmware update?

Also having a lockup/freeze problem. For us it seems to happen after at least a few days of good operation. Also, lan seems to keep working but wifi stops working.

Definitely getting worse. It's been happening every few days and yesterday I upgraded the firmware with one from support and it's died 3 times in the last 24h.
I have a feeling this is the hardware slowly dying. Maybe overheating. We'll be taking it back under warranty to get a replacement. I don't trust this make/model anymore, though, will probably go with a different one next time.
As mentioned, we're already in contact with support. They don't seem to acknowledge any issues, don't have any ideas or suggestions, just offered a newer internal firmware to try out which doesn't seem to have made a difference - it feels worse, actually.
