We've had a SG2218P switch for a few years now, but only recently have had a need to use anything PoE-related on it.  We're wanting to connect a Ruckus R750 access point to it, which uses PoE+.  When we connect the AP to the switch, the AP will power on, but the AP will continuosly reboot after every of couple minutes.

We have other Dell and Sonicwall switches, and the AP stays powered on fine.  We've tried adjusting the PoE setting on the SG2218P's switch port to Auto (it was Class4/30W), and the AP was still doing a reboot loop.  Several cables have been tried (CAT5e and 6) with no improvement.  We've even gotten into the APs settings in the brief moment that the web interface is available and set the PoE Mode to use only PoE and not PoE+, and still the power issue persist.

At this point is seems the issue lies somewhere in the SG2218P switch.  Firmware seems to be as up-to-date as it can be with firmware version 1.20.1.  Is there anything else we can try, or is this a situation where we might need to rely on a PoE+ injector for the AP?

Hi @A11ectis

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

Possible incompatibility in PoE.

But, did you try a 3ft cable for a stability test? Usually, it's a long cable issue.

Common Questions About 802.3 PoE

I assume your PoE budget is still enough for an extra 30W. Right?

If you have tried, then it should be the compatibility. There isn't much we can do with it.
