Hello TP-Link Community,

I’m currently building a network based on the TP-Link Archer C80 router, which supports the 5GHz band and the 802.11ac standard. I'm looking to expand coverage and connect additional devices either wirelessly. During my research, I came across several TP-Link devices as well as others like Ubiquiti, and I’d like to understand their compatibility and performance when used with the Archer C80.

I have a few questions and would greatly appreciate your insights and experiences:

- Can the TP-Link CPE510 be wirelessly connected to the TP-Link Archer C80 over the 5GHz band, even though the CPE510 only supports 802.11a/n while the Archer C80 supports 802.11ac? Would this affect speed and performance?

- Can the Ubiquiti NanoStation 5 AC be wirelessly connected to the TP-Link Archer C80 over the 5GHz band using the 802.11ac standard, even though both devices support 802.11ac? Would there be any compatibility issues or impact on speed and performance?

Hi  @Elfarahidy

Both devices support 802.11 a/n, so the CPE510 can connect to the ARCHER C80's 5GHz network.

However, note the following:

1. Deployment Limitations:
   - The CPE510 is an outdoor AP, while the ARCHER C80 is an indoor AP.
   - The distance between them must not exceed the C80's WiFi coverage range.

2. Channel Compatibility:
-In some regions, indoor and outdoor APs may support different 5GHz channels.
   - If they share no common 5GHz channels, they cannot work together.

3. Speed Constraints:
   - The CPE510’s port speed is limited at 100Mbps, while the C80 supports higher speeds.
   - For faster speeds, consider upgrading to the CPE710 (with Gigabit ports).
