Issue with EAP-610 outdoor with other devices
I have a wireless network working properly using TP link AP. Two routers acting as AP ( BE9300 ) and an EAP-610.
Setup works perfectly fine. No issue whatsoever.
Fast forward a few months later, a parking garage a few blocks from our house requires internet connectivity for security cameras. This is solve by adding a EAP-610 OUTDOOR from the current network power by a passive POE TL-POE4824G that comes with the package. On the other end, the parking garage side, a EAP-610 ( let say EAP-610 GARAGE to differentiate from the other EAP-610) is installed in mesh with the EAP-610 OUTDOOR. The EAP-610 GARAGE is then connected via LAN cable to a switch which then several cameras and a NVR are connected providing internet connectivity to the parking garage.
These two devices are in the ones that is only in mesh configuration. The rest are not. Now comes the problem. For some moment in time devices will have trouble connecting to BE9300 and EAP-610. It will not connect at all. Troubleshooting by disconnecting the EAP-610 OUTDOOR, devices connects to APs without any problem at all.
Addendum: All devices are with latest firmware.
Any thoughts?

Have you enabled outdoor mode on your access point? If you have, only channels 100 and up will work. If you have another access point that is not in outdoor mode, they will not be able to talk to each other if they are using channels below 100.
You also write that you are going to connect to a parking garage a few blocks away, how far away is that? It could also be that it is too far away?

Hi Mr. S
Thanks for the input. Can you elaborate more on the outdoor mode solution? I have to point out that with the above setup, parking garage has internet connectivity. It just a few meters from the house. EAP610 OUTDOOR and EAP610 have direct line of sight. To be honest, these two devices are added without my knowledge. It was setup by another guy that installed the cameras. I am positive that the EAP610 OUTDOOR was setup as a range extender.
I must add that devices already connected will stay connected. No problem with that. Issue arises when mobile devices ( laptops, smart phones, tablets ) tries to reconnect to the home network.
I need to figure whats going first. My last option is to reconfigure both devices and see how it will go.

I'm a little unsure how you configure the access points, do you have controllers or is it in stand alone? Outdoor mode is for outdoor use, many places do not allow using indoor channels outdoors, so in the EU only channel 100 and up are available in outdoor mode. So if two access points are going to talk to each other, both must be on the same channel. I don't know where this setting is in stand alone but look for outdoor mode in the radio config on the access point itself.
this is what it looks like on the controller
as you can see, only channel 100 and above are available

in indoor mode these channels are available

@MR.S
I will try to look at that channel configuration. The EAP610 OUTDOOR and the EAP610 GARAGE are in the OMADA controller network. The rest of the APs are stand alone.
It still doesnt explain though why my devices cannot reconnect to my home wifi. Not unless I disconnected the EAP610 OUTDOOR.

Firstly, when you say BE9300, are you referring to EAP773, or EAP772-outdoor?
For unstable mesh connection, you may refer to the following:
1) Move the Mesh EAP closer to the uplink EAP;
2) Avoid obstacles and wireless interference between the uplink EAP and mesh EAP;
3) Change the channel of the uplink EAP, please test on different channels;
4) Choose different uplink EAP units.
5) Make sure the firmware version of the EAP and the controller are up-to-date.

Hi Vincent
It is actually Archer BE550 router ( configured as AP ).
Let me state my network configuration again for clarity.
HOME
Router ( generic brand provided by ISP)
2 Archer BE550 configured as AP
1 EAP610
All are stand alone device providing wifi to all devices ( non mesh).
Then to provide internet to a parking garage just a few meters in front of the house,
an EAP610-OUTDOOR is added to the network in repeater mode in mesh network. ( no devices connects to this ).
In the parking garage:
EAP610 in mesh with the EAP610-OUTDOOR
EAP610 is wired connected to a switch which then provide connectivity to the cameras and NVR.
EAP610 in the garage and the EAP610-OUTDOOR are manage by OMADA cloud controller.
That is the setup. HOME device is not setup to connect to parking garage.

Thanks for the explanation; the topology is clear for now.
Internet source---2xBE550&EAP610_1 )))((( EAP610-outdoor_RE mode )))((( EAP610_2----Switch---NVR&IPC
Now comes the problem. For some moment in time devices will have trouble connecting to BE9300 and EAP-610. It will not connect at all. Troubleshooting by disconnecting the EAP-610 OUTDOOR, devices connects to APs without any problem at all.
Please help us to understand the problem by answering my questions below:
>>>
1. For some moment in time devices------What kind of devices?
2. will have trouble connecting to BE9300 and EAP-610.--------what does this mean? the device will lose Internet access? Or you need to use the devices to connecting to the BE9300 and EAP610 to access their management interface? Is the EAP610 referring to EAP610_1 above? or EAP610_2?
3. devices connects to APs without any problem at all.--------same question as above.
Please try to rephrase and elaborate on your issue. You can refer to my previous questions for details. For example: Is the problem related to unstable network connections, internal access issues, or something else? Which specific clients are affected? Has this issue occurred before?

Hi Vincent
Here goes.
1. Devices are smart phones, laptops, and tablets.
2. Device will lose their network connectivity. Lets say I have my phone connected to WIFI then for some reason I went out with my phone to buy something.
When I go back my phone won't be able to reconnect to the same WIFI or to other SSID of my home network that is BE550 & EAP610_1
This happens to all devices that has been disconnected. Only by disconnecting the EAP610-outdoor_RE mode from the network, and by disconnecting I mean, unplug the lan cable or turn it off, only then the devices will be able to reconnect.
3. same as 2
I am not really sure what causes this issue. Laptops, tablets, or phones that is always connected have no trouble and have access to internet.
I hope this clears the situation and maybe will help in finding a solution?
My last alternative is to reconfigure the EAP610-outdoor_RE mode and the EAP610_2 and see it from there.

Thank you so much for the info.
My last alternative is to reconfigure the EAP610-outdoor_RE mode and the EAP610_2 and see it from there.
>>>I think it's worth a try.
This issue is weird. Are all the EAPs and BE550 broadcasting the same SSID?
Before you went out, are the wireless clients connecting to the home wifi network?
When I go back my phone won't be able to reconnect to the same WIFI or to other SSID of my home network that is BE550 & EAP610_1
>>>At this time, if you go to the garage, can you connect to the wifi network there?
Will this issue happening on all of your wireless clients? Is there any wireless client not having this issue?
If you turn off the wifi for a client, and turn it back on after a few minutes, will the same issue occur?
