We want to start skill training in our college campus for 160 students in a single
hall. In this connection, we want to know the infrastructural facilities required to get Wi-Fi
Internet facility to the 160 students in their laptops at a time. What devices are required to be
installed in the teaching hall to get uninterrupted Wi-Fi Internet facility to all the 160 students??
Either a Single Wi-Fi device or multiple Wi-Fi devices are required for accessing Wi-Fi Internet
Facility by the students within single hall. We kindly request you to suggest the Wi-Fi devices
required for the above mentioned requirement.

It depends on how big the hall is, but basically you need a centrally located access point, the EAP660HD should handle 160 users without any problems.

To be fair, every time someone provides me number of users of WiFi, I multiplies that by two. Mostly because each of them have a mobile phone and/or tablet / smartwatch in addition to the laptop. All those devices eventually end up trying to connect to WiFi :/

 

So if you have 160 students with laptops, plus their mobile phones / tablets / smartwatches - I would count that as 320 devices. But that's just my practice ;)

 

As MR.S said, it depends on the hall, how big it is. But even if, maybe it would be good idea to have more than one AP - to load balance the traffic a little bit :)

Considering that some students may have more than one client device, to ensure performance, I recommend preparing 2-3 EAP620 HD units，and configure band steering as Balance mode
