Model: CPE210
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: CPE210(EU)_V3_200612

Hello,

I have a 10 inch network cabinet with a patch panel where a lan cable from my fritzbox comes in (via keystone module).
From there a cable goes into the PoE switch from Reolink (model RLA-PS1).

At first I thought I could run the CPE210 directly over it, but then I saw that you still have to use the power supply.

Now I come to my problem:
After a factory reset, I reconfigured the CPE210. However, it only worked until I connected it to that Reolink switch. Then the CPE210 reset itself back to factory settings.
I reconfigured the CPE210 again and tested it on another switch and it worked. Then I connected the CPE210 directly to the keystone adapter in the patch panel... worked.

You can also connect non-PoE-capable devices to that PoE switch. For example, I connected my laptop to it and it worked.

Is this a known problem? Can the CPE210 not be connected to such a PoE switch, even though the power comes via the adapter?

Hi  @chin0x

The CPE210 is a passive PoE device. Connecting it to a PoE port of a third-party PoE switch is highly inadvisable.

Computers can generally be connected to PoE ports without issue, as they do not utilize PoE technology—this is fundamentally different from devices like the CPE210.

We strongly recommend using a non-PoE port on the switch instead.
