Hello everyone

Unfortunately, I can't access the NVR via VPN. I can open it in the browser on my phone, but not via the Vigi app.

Unfortunately, the solution in Scott1981's thread didn't help me. Accessing it as a local device in the app only works via Wi-Fi. Does anyone have a solution for this? Many thanks.

Re:Cannot route NVR through VPN-Solution

I finally found a fix, but let me explain first what I was trying to achieve in case someone else is looking for the same solution.

My goal was to use the Vigi mobile app through VPN ***only***, meaning NOT through TP-Link cloud services. I denied NVR access to the internet, and allowed access to VPN, so that cloud was blocked. By doing this NVR would not connect to the app since it required internet access. I found a way for Vigi App to connect to a LAN address without binding to TPLink cloud.

Here are the steps:

1) Unbind NVR from Cloud Account

2) Deny NVR from internet access on the router, and allow through VPN.

3) Open the Vigi App and delete NVR device if you have it configured.

4) On the Vigi app Click + sign to add device > Can't Find QR Code > Add device by IP/Domain (at the bottom)

5) Enter NVR LAN IP address and login credentials (not tplink cloud, just admin/password for NVR).

6) Once added, NVR will show under Local devices

7) Allow NVR to connect to Internet again on the router.

If you ALSO want to access NVR through your WAN/Internet connection, you can bind to the TPLINK Cloud Account and Vigi App will show a Cloud NVR and a Local NVR. First one is for WAN access, and second one will only work in the LAN or through VPN.

In my case I have better experience accessing NVR through VPN than over Internet/WAN because of some issues with my ISP.

I hope this helps someone else looking for an answer!

Set up the VPN tunnel as a full tunnel, which might resolve the problem.
VPN routing is different from local routing.

If you don't know what I am talking about, at least provide more details about your network subnet scheme and VPN configuration. A diagram with the specified IPs is needed.

Please mosaic your sensitive information. Here is a list of information considered sensitive:

1. Public IP address on your WAN if your WAN is.

2. Real MAC address of your device.

3. Your personal information including address, domain name, and credentials.

For troubleshooting purposes, when a WAN IP is needed, please leave some values visible for identification.

Thank you very much for your reply. I use the VPN service from my ISP. It's an IKEv2 connection to my DynDNS. I want to access it from my Android phone. As I said, it works in the phone's web browser, but not the app. The NVR is normally connected to my private network with a static IP (192.168.1.131). I also tried setting up port forwarding (for all NVR ports) on my router. That didn't help.

They work differently.

I asked if you could try the full tunnel mode to verify if that could make the app think it is LAN.
