ER7412-M2 v1.0 - LAN Port Issue / Other
I've swapped out Omada units at my home, weirdly I have a ER7412-M2 v1.0 presently and I'm just reporting an odd issue.
So I had a lan cable in my house on one of the computers not connect. I got a cable tester, all the wires are good, wall points fine etc. Nothing. I threw in a new lan card just to try, nothing. I plugged it into two other switches, worked fine. A POE TPlink and just a generic one.......
So whats the go here? The TPLink just wouldn't have a bar of it...... it was cutting to 100Mbps (like it did work for a while) and then just stopped. This was on port 7 of the unit incase that matters, I tried messing with the settings no joy.
Just weird. Like I have all the stuff to make network cables, I'm in IT etc so ...... I even repunched the wires in the wall socket just to be sure.
Other then that the thing works fine, it may draw a more bit more power then expected and it's ashame it doesn't have more output in terms of the IPS etc. Still behind.
Still waiting on a basic feature to come to Omada where you can set custom DNS Servers for the DHCP Reservations! It'd also be nice on Omada if they followed Unfi and showed current throughput for the internet and all the devices, so it's easy to find a problematic device using up all the internet without having to drill down in the software for it. Also DPI, how long does it keep the data? I know this thing has 4 cores, I wonder if we could get the DPI and IPS to get a small amount of a 3rd core to help it a tad more.
Also this ER7412-M2 v1.0 would have been great if it'd had a sim slot with external 4G/5G arials, don't need wifi, the last 4 ports having POE would have been a benefit as well.
Maybe TP Link just needs to release an 8 core CPU model, since there's not enough power to process IPS properly. Even DPI has overhead etc. Could allow a select few apps on these too like Pi Hole, AdBlock, Cloudflare endpoint type stuff....
