Hi,

New here. I researching what equipment I require to install a small CCTV system using VIGI components. I do have some knowledge of networking and CCTV installation but that was some time ago, and things have certainly moved on.

I am considering to use POA utilising a VIGI NVR1008H which has POA but does not have Wifi. The proposed location of the NVR makes it impossible to hard wire it into my wifi router. I do have a TP Link RE450 AC1750 wifi extender with a RJ45 Ethernet port.  If I connect from the extender RJ45 into the NVR RJ45 can either or both be configured to connect to my existing wifi network?

Or is that just complicating things?

Regards

Graysilk

Thanks for your post. Yes, you can plug the NVR1008H’s LAN port into the RE450’s RJ45; set the extender in “Range Extender” mode so it bridges the NVR to your existing Wi-Fi. The NVR stays on the same subnet and gets DHCP from the main router—no extra complexity.
