Model: OC400
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: na

Setting up my new network and need some advice on the connection

In order from Internet coming in

Fiber

Firewall

SX3008F

Oc400

The firewall is connected to one of the SFP+ ports and the Oc400 is connected to the sx3008f, then from the sex3008f that connects to all my other switches.

Does the oc400 need to be connected direct to a port on the firewall so it does not depend on the sc3008f?  Can I leave the 400 connected via sx3008f and to the firewall.   What the best option here?

Thank you

It doesnt matter, as long as the OC400 is connected to any port, anywhere, that has your management vlan set as native (access port), it will work.

In my experience its better to have it as high up the chain as possible - as if its on the last switch in a chain, it can temporarily lose coms during scheduled reboots, switch reboots, etc.  I prefer to have mine on my core switch, not the gateway

Main: ER8411 x1, SG3428X x1, SG3452 x1, SG2428LP x1, SG3210 x1, SG2218P x1, SG2008P x3, ES208G x1, EAP650 x6 Remote: ER7206 v2 x1, ER605 v2 x3, SG2008P x2, EAP650 x2, ES205G x1 Controller: OC300
