Hello TP-Link Team,

I would like to suggest some improvements for the Omada Hotspot Manager in the Local Users section:

  1. Password Generator

    • Implement a built-in password generator.

    • Allow customization of parameters, such as:

      • Password length.

      • Use of uppercase/lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.

      • Option to generate “easy-to-read” passwords (excluding confusing characters like 0/O, 1/l, etc.).

  2. Automatic Username Generation

    • Add the possibility to automatically generate usernames based on a defined scheme (e.g., combining first and last name), similar to what Ucopia offers.

    • This would save time and ensure consistency in user accounts.

  3. Improved User Validity and Device Binding Options

    • In the local users area, it should be possible to define more advanced validity options.

    • For Dynamic MAC Binding, allow more than one device per user (e.g., up to 10 MAC addresses can be automatically stored).

    • For Static Binding, it would also be useful to assign multiple MAC addresses to a single user account instead of just one.

These features would make managing local hotspot users much more flexible and efficient, especially in environments where users often connect multiple devices.

Thank you for considering these suggestions!

Thank you for your feedback. I have a few questions regarding this:

If need to generate random account credentials, wouldn’t a verification code(voucher authentication) login be more convenient? A key difference between local users and vouchers is that the former allows login with fixed credentials.

The convenience of local user login lies in providing users with direct account credentials for autonomous access. If MAC binding is required, it’s recommended to use the IP-MAC binding or MAC filtering feature directly rather than relying on portal authentication.
