Model : TL-ER6120
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 1.0.7 Build 20140113 Rel.63736
ISP : Verizon Fios 300mb/300mb
Hi,
I have a TP-LINK TL-ER6120 router with a Verizon Fios fiber line, symmetrical 300mb up/down connection. When I connect my Macbooks directly to the Verizon gateway I get 330/330 up and down on a bandwidth test. However, when I plug my macbook and fios gateway into the 6120, I get 170mb down / 210mb up.
Any ideas why i'm losing 30-40% of bandwidth through the 6120? I'm not pushing that much on this unit, it is used for a home office, and i'm not even on a VPN for these tests.

The NAT throughput of ER6120 is 350Mbps declared in their official website, so if your ISP line is 300Mbps, it will be fine. Which tool do you use to test the throughput? You can refer to the FAQ for more accurate test:
http://www.tplink.com/en/faq-449.html.

That is the odd thing, it isn't even close. When I plug directly to the Verizon Fios Gateway I get 330mb/330mb up and down with a speedtest. I unplug and run the same test to the same server through the ER6120 an get 170mb/220mb down and up....

Hey @j.antonio I tried contacting TP-Link but got no help. I contacted Amazon and returned the unit as it is false advertisement, unless mine was broken (which is wasn't) under no conditions can it hit the advertised speeds. They are going to investigate and remove the item if they can't get proof of the speeds being achievable. I bought a Cisco unit from Amazon (
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HODK3N0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage) for less money that has more features and 3x the throughput of the 6120! I'll never buy another TP-Link product again!

They aren't ever going to improve this hardware/software. Grab a Cisco or Unifi router and be amazed by the quality
