Model: EAP620 HD
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version:

Its a EAP635 version 1.4.1 (drop downs don't allow this)

I have good working internet - this eap was bought to replace an aging TP link access point.
I set up WLANs on the controller, no extra settings - just the wifi name, vlan, password, wpa2/wpa3-aes

I connect to the wifi, seems fine - browsing pages...., then a few moments later the captive portal page comes up - a blank page (captive.apple.com)
If i browse to this captive apple page manually though a browser, i see "Success" on a blank page.

I do NOT have the portal enabled.

(I did try enabling the portal, with no authentication, but then could not connect at all.)
I tried toggling it on and off. Rebooting. Still comes up.

.
IoT devices i am tring to onboad, complain my phone is not connected to any network.

Network scanning apps on the phone also say i am not connected, although i am (until the captive portal comes up).

I am running latest firmware, eaps are provisioned and connected. Rebooted.

There is no issue with dhcp ( i get an ip address).

What the heck is going on??

@NeilR_M   @Vincent-TP Thanks both, hints much appreciated.

I've managed to resolve it ...all IoT online and no more captive portals:

1. enabled mDNS on my router
2. removed NordVPN, rebooted iphone, reinstalled NordVPN and disconnected
3. used WPA2-PSK/AES as the security key on omada for my iot network

4. added floating firewall rules to allow any captive portals on port 80

@flyinghobbit Is the issue persistent with other devices or just your phone? Would it be possible to reboot your phone as well to see if the issue persists after that?

Hi  @flyinghobbit

Thanks for posting here.

We don't have a EAP model EAP635, but EAP653, are you using this model?

To better understand the situation, please give us the following info:

1. A screenshot of your controller's Device page, which will help us identify the specific hardware and firmware versions of the SDN devices you are using.

2. The type of controller(hardware or software) you are using and its firmware version;

3. A screenshot of the WLAN network page, so we could see the basic WLAN settings.

I connect to the wifi, seems fine - browsing pages...., then a few moments later the captive portal page comes up - a blank page (captive.apple.com)

>>>

4. Around how long of the few moments is? 2-3minutes? or several seconds?

5. During this moment, can you get Internet access?

6. Will this happens on all of your wireless clients?

Please also create a new test SSID, not configure poratl authentication, and see if the same thing happen. Thanks.
