Unable to update OC200 v1 to v 6.0.0.34 version
Hi,
I have an Omada OC200 v1 controller running Omada SDN Controller V5.15.24.21 with firmware version 1.36.7 Build 20250707 Rel.72474.
In the OC200 web interface, I see the message: “A new version of Omada Controller is available for upgrade. Release Notes for Omada SDN Controller V6.0.0.34.”
I tried to update three times. The download completed successfully, but the reboot that should follow never happened.
The OC200 responds to ping, but when I try to access its web interface, the page is not available.
The LEDs stayed on the whole time, but the OC200 became unresponsive. I had to disconnect the RJ45 cable to force a restart.
Unfortunately, it still keeps the original version.
Thank you for your help,
Pavel

@PavelV and All,
Maybe this would be an information you might use.
my case: Model OC200 1.0
Few days ago there was a message that there is an update for the controller available. I am certain, it was 1.36.xx
Yesterday there was a new message that 1.37.xx is available:
New Controller Software Available
New Controller software 1.37.11 Build 20251201 Rel.43290 is now available.
At the moment of update it was (recorded after first failed attempt):
Firmware Version 1.36.7 Build 20250707 Rel.72474
first attempt has failed.
It was the same as many describe. initially, the UI showed download bar, than there was a message "upgrading" and then ... controller was not reachable.
ping worked.
I had disconnected PoE and after waiting for about 15-20 sec, the controller was powered up again.
System has rebooted back into the "previous" firmware.
I've made a back-up, updated one of the remaining on the "old" Firmware switches, and then tried once again.
The second attempt was successful. It has been performed shortly after the first reboot - maybe this had an impact - I do not know.
During the upgrade Ping was running permanently, and it has not been interrupted even once. Honestly, this is a bit unexpected. My assumption would be: system to be rebooted, but this seems to be not the case. it looks like something stays up and running during the reboot.
Then, system, new software has booted up. after the logon system has showed me few learning tips and then it was up and running with new UI.
After the upgrade all Access Points have shown new Firmware is available.
otherwise the UI is nice, navigation is easier.
The VLAN management - again, another learning hurdle.
This is what I find not intuituve, as everytime the UI changes - you need to guiess when it is Tagged, when Untagged and what happend when (based on each individual UI) it switches to default.
Otherwise, all has been upgraded and back to learning again.

I've had more luck downloading the most recent firmware available on the TP-Link site for the OC200 v1 (OC200(UN)_V1_1.37.10 Build 20251118), logging in directly to the OC via it's IP address then uploading the unzipped .bin file to manually upgrade. This upgrades to Controller 6.0.0.34.
I;ve been able to do this no problem on two sites with OC200 v1ttoday.
I then ran the update offered by Check for Upgrade in the Global System Settings to 6.0.0.36 and this appears to have worked without any reboot required (no pings dropped during the upgrade and next login).
