EAP265 and EAP245 5.0.3 firmware both flagged by SDN 6.0.0.34 as out of date. Newer FW where?
Since updating OC200 to new SDN 6.0.0.34, I get the following nag that doesn't have a solution path to follow to correct the matter....
"2 devices are using outdated firmware that is no longer supported. Please upgrade to the latest version as soon as possible."

However, under SDN cloud firmware update screen, only the following are available.
| EAP265 HD(US) v1.0 | 5.0.3 Build 20210618 Rel. 46584 | Aug 18, 2021 19:00:00 |
| EAP245(US) v3.0 | 5.0.3 Build 20210708 Rel. 35014 | Aug 18, 2021 19:00:00 |
Clicking on the Devices > Check for Update button does not find newer firmware.
There is no advertized newer firmware available to load.
Thank you!

Hi @RF_Dude
Actually, we already have newer firmware versions for EAP245 and EAP265 HD, but the official website in your region hasn’t uploaded it yet. I will feedback to the relevant team to update ASAP.
You can upgrade the firmware from the global website first—they are the same.
Change the ca to en, you will see the corresponding firmware.

@Vincent-TP No problem downloading the firmware and extracting the BIN files. Unfortunately, the upgrade failed for both the EAP245v3 and EAP265HDv1. The 245v3 was attempted on two different locations with different versions of Omada SDN with the same results.
"Upgrade Results Failed (1) Farmhouse upgrade failed: The upgrade file is invalid. Please select a correct file."
The file names are:
EAP265HDv1_5.3.2_[20250627-rel55849]_up_signed.bin
EAP245v3_5.3.3_[20250627-rel63801]_up_signed.bin
Also attempted using an older version: EAP245v3_5.2.0_[20240914-rel59923]_up_signed.bin with no joy.
Newest version on the CA site is: EAP245(CA)_V3_5.0.5 Build 20220323 ... Upgrade Results Succeeded (1) Farmhouse upgrade succeeded.
Seems a country specific version is at play. Can you refer this to the right people and encourage them to post the CA files?
Thank you!

Sorry, this is a custom firmware and cannot be upgraded at the moment. I didn’t check carefully earlier—my apologies for the misunderstanding.
The new firmware compatible with your version is under development.
We are currently providing a transition period before the new firmware is released.
For now, please ignore that remind.

@Vincent-TP do we have a ETA for this updated firmware release? My 3 EAP245 have been stuck on FW version 5.0.3 with the flag for outdated firmware enabled after I upgraded to SDN 6+.

@RF_Dude have you been able to resolve the FW upgrade issue with the EAP245?

@letap_canada Not Yet! Newest CA file available is EAP245(CA)_V3_5.0.5 Build 20220323
The latest US file is EAP245(US)_V3_5.3.3 Build 20250627. Same for the EU file.

Feel experimental? There may be a way to downgrade your CA firmware then push an earlier US version in. Later versions (5.0.3) locks this out (they say so in the release notes). I was unable to accomplish this remotely using Omada Web. Perhaps this requires a standalone mode (if it works)?
Clearly enough time has passed... the CA market is just not big enough for TP-LINK to provide an upgrade in line with US and EU. With a quick AI search, this region change can be accomplished using the official TFTP recovery process. When I'm physically in front of one, I'll give this a go.
Being a spectrum guru, I asked and AI reports 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi harmonization. Should have no regulatory (practical) effect.
- Practically negligible for most home/SOHO use—devices certified for US (FCC) often work identically in Canada (and vice versa) without issues.
- Regulatory harmonization is excellent in ITU Region 2, especially compared to other regions.
- Main nuances appear in 6 GHz for advanced/outdoor deployments (e.g., AFC behaviors or specific sub-band allowances), but these do not affect EAP245.
- Why firmware differs: Manufacturers like TP-Link create region-specific firmware to lock regulatory domains (channel lists, power limits, DFS/TPC behaviors) for compliance and certification. Canadian versions lag in updates partly due to smaller market size/testing priorities, not major spectrum differences.
