Feature Request: Enhanced WAN Link Health Check via Custom IP Monitoring for Omada Routers
Dear TP-Link Omada Team,
I am writing to suggest an essential enhancement for the WAN Failover feature on Omada routers, specifically for users with Leased Line (Static IP) connections.
Currently, the router detects a WAN failure primarily when the physical link is down or the ISP gateway is unreachable. However, in many enterprise scenarios, the connection to the ISP gateway remains "Up" (Pingable), but the actual internet routing at the ISP's end is broken. This causes the router to keep traffic on a "dead" WAN, leading to network downtime despite having a backup line.
Requested Feature: Please add an "Advanced Link Health Check" or "Custom Echo Server" option. This would allow users to monitor WAN status by pinging a specific public IP (e.g., 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1) rather than just the default gateway. If the router cannot reach this custom IP through WAN 1, it should automatically trigger a failover to WAN 2, even if the WAN 1 interface is still physically "Up."
This feature is critical for business stability and is already a standard in many other enterprise-grade firewalls. We hope to see this integrated into the Omada ecosystem soon.
Best regards.
