Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.2.5

I just recently setup an ER605 Router and had Firefox save the password.  It does Autofill however each time I login it asks if I want to update the Password and the password it wants to update it to is not what I typed in,  its just a jumble of letters and numbers.   What would cause such behavior?

Hi@JimmiJam

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

Is the dots showing as saved password bothering you like the screenshot you provided?

If so, here are some reasons that the saved password appear as dots:

Anti-spying: The dot prevents others from directly seeing the password from beside the screen (especially in public places or on shared computers).

Anti-malware: Some malicious programs capture screen content; hiding the password reduces the risk of theft.

Anti-accidental operation: Prevents users from accidentally clicking "Show Password" and forgetting to restore it to hidden state.

Regarding the browser each time asks if you want to update the password, this is mainly used to accommodate password change scenarios and ensure security.

@Hank21 No it's not the Dots,  it's the part where it thinks I'm typing in a different password and it wants to update it.   If I unmask the dots it shows the password as something different each time.  Below is 2 current examples of what it wants to update the password to, I logged in then logged out and back in again.

The first time it happened I though well maybe it's encrypting the password somehow and I selected Update,  however that didn't work next time I logged in and it autofilled it said it was the wrong password so I cleared it and typed it manually again only for it to ask if I want to update it again and this time I noticed it was an entirely different password it want to update it to.

This is not a major issue,  i can live with it I just find it odd that it's doing that and was wondering if anyone else had seen this.
