Hi there

Complete newb here, new to tp-link eap's, but not networks.

I used the iphone Omada app to setup the AP, [my first ever for me] and all seems to be working fine.

But one message keeps bugging me, and I am assuming it needs to be addressed. In the 'linked devices' page of the app "Unknown Uplink Device" is showing in orange. Inside that warning it states a "Notice" that it is "unable to identify the uplink device. Check the following". Then three items to check, related to the AP being adopted.

I assume the 'adopt' thing is to do with linking it to tp-link across the internet, which I don't need, since this is my home and not a business.

The AP is powered by a tp-link poe switch and that comes off a edgerouter4.

This where I am lost. Everything is working, so can I do something to keep it happy, or just have to ignore it??

cheers CD

Hi  @doobre

Thanks for the screenshots.

You may ignore the notice. TL-SG1005P is an unmanaged switch and can't be detected by the Omada system.

For your installation, it's the third situation. It won't affect any normal usage of the EAP.

Hi  @doobre

Thanks for posting here.

The AP is powered by a tp-link poe switch and that comes off a edgerouter4.

>>>Do you mean it's powered by a non-tplink POE switch?

For better understanding, please share a screenshot of the notice page.

How many EAP units do you have in total?

  @Vincent-TP

Hi there

The single EAP is powered by the TP-Link TL-SG10005P (as mentioned), the router between that and the ONT is an Edgerouter4.

The network paths are not relevant to my question.

I am asking whether it is relevant to my situation that there is a warning message in orange stating that there is "Unknown Uplink Device" in the linked devices 'Uplink' tab.

see below.

next page shows this

is this something to do with "adopting" the EAP? AND is this relevant to my installation/case.

cheers CD
