DPI Function makes some Internet Sides loading extremly slow
DPI Function makes some Internet Sides loading extremly slow
I noticed (already a while ago) when I turn the DPI function of my gateway on some sides, such as the one from "Kärcher" or "Automobilwoche" take forever to load.. even when in the VLAN of the device were I try to access the site, no filtering is enabled.
I want to use the the DPI function as AD & Analytics blocker, the function works well just some websites such as the ones I named take forever to load.
Not sure maybe it is related to the MTU issue I found earlier on the ER8411? Since the thing with the sides load forever is a bit similar?
Edit: Not sure what I did wrong but after some retries the issue is actually gone. The adblocking function works, works pretty well but do not enable the adobe experience cloud, see attachment. Whyever this causes many sites to not work properly also some parts of BMWs website do not load fully/ extremly slow when enabled. If disabling this at first does not take any effect restart your gateway, with the DPI function turned off. That fixed it for me.
Thanks for everyone and of course TP-Links support for helping!

There is indeed currently a WAN MTU issue with the 8411, i have logged similar issues with support, the next forum release beta will address it - it effects VPNs, some websites and some other stuff.
For the moment i found a WAN MTU of 1455 to work for everything in general until the FW is released

@GRL The issue I found and the support fixed with that built for me, was the MTU on the lan side, that with the WAN MTU sounds interesting.

Hi @Julian2111
May I know if the issue fixed by the firmware update after contacting with TP-Link technical support or change of MTU on WAN side?

I was also experiencing the slow web pages with DPI enabled on my ER8411, but since it was logged here didnt log it again. I have been sent a WAN MTU fix firmware to test by support, and i assume it includes the LAN MTU fix as well since both my WAN related issues and the DPI issues seem to be resolved, its still absed on 1.3.6 but build yesterday, but hopefully once i confirm and double confirm with support the fixes work it will be integrated into the upcoming 6.2 adapted firmware

@Hank21 I will test the WAN MTU thing out tonight, I did not have time to test.. What I got told it was only a issue on the Lan side, so maybe the WAN MTU change will fix that issue.. since as for now I just unblocked the "analystic" services that made the sides loading extremly slow.

@GRL If you have time and if you want to ofc. could you try creating a DPI list blocking all advertisement & analytic services.
And then try the side Automobilwoche dot de and Karcher dot com if they load properly then it is for me the WAN MTU not being fixed, if not it is the side's being embbeded "too deep" into some analytic services.
