ER605 v2.0 - Application Blocking via DPI. Confusing Logic.

Dear Friends,

I am trying to block applications via DPI in Application Control, but after what I've seen, I consider this format completely inadequate for management.

I know and acknowledge that the ER605 V2 is an entry-level device, but let's face it, this doesn't reflect Omada quality and doesn't compare to existing competitors.

From a security equipment management perspective, this part should be completely redesigned. How do you block applications in this way? How do you add new applications for blocking?

I kindly request your attention to this.

I want to migrate to another Omada device soon, but if the most current one has this issue, I'll give up on Omada and switch to another.

I am very frustrated because here in Brazil, we don't have worthwhile intermediate gateways. Here we only have leftover stock of products that were launched many years ago worldwide.

I want the ER7412-M2 - https://www.omadanetworks.com/us/business-networking/omada-router-wired-router/er7412-m2/, but it's not available in Brazil. Another very important detail: there should be a revision of this product with more 2.5GBEth ports. It's already the maximum in many places, and this is something TP-Link Omada is significantly lacking in its products.

  @Hank21

My network isn't large, but I'm gradually planning to add more continuous server devices for traffic control and other types of control and monitoring.

I have:

1 unit - GTW - ER605V2
1 unit - CONTROLLER - OC200V1
1 unit - SW - SG2008V4.20
1 unit - AP - EAP 670V1

I intend to add another switch in the future to my lab and migrate the GTW and CONTROLLER. However, after encountering limitations in more extensive management and having more detailed logs, I realize I need something more robust that gives me what I need: more security.

I received feedback from another TP-Link analyst on Reddit and did as he asked. I opened this feature request.

Feature Additions: DPI - Application Addition, redesign for blocking | Logs - Verbose extension... - Business Community

Hi  @Artur.Aragao

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

To provide further help for you, may I ask what is your network topology? Could you describe your network requirement and the current situation of your ER605 with DPI?
