Help Please

I am running a mesh system using EAP265HD AP's that has been working fine with my 900meg BT broadband and giving me speeds of between 750 and 800meg I changed my broadband provider to sky yesterday and now have Sky's 900meg fibre. The speeds i am getting if i connect direct to the router are around 800meg but if i connect to the mesh system those speeds drop to around 80meg. The only change has been the new router,I am using the same network cable from the router to the switchbox and the same cable from the switchbox to the first AP.

I have tried disabling the wifi on the router in case they are conflicting but still can only get speeds around 80meg.

Can anyone advise me on the way forward to try and get my system back to somewhere close to what it was.

Thank You

@NeilR_M Thought you might want to know the cause of the issue for future reference, i ended up swapping the PoE power supply for the first AP in the system for a new one as that was the only thing left and that has cured the problem across all the AP's they are all now transmitting around 450 to 500 meg which is a massive improvement.

Thank You for your help and advice

@AndyH69 I do see that there's a firmware upgrade for your devices, can you update the firmware on your APs and try again? How are you powering your APs? Are you using a PoE adapter or PoE from the switch?

@NeilR_M I tried to do a firmware update but when i try to do it i get the message that the firmware is up to date. The Ap's are powered by PoE adaptors I have an Omada controller and a managable switch but I have never been able to log into the switch as someone has changed the password and i cant seem to reset it.

@AndyH69 I assume the switch is not currently managed by the Omada Controller? If it is you should be able to see it, but if not, can you share the model of that switch? It may need to be reset via serial port if it has it and not a reset button.

@NeilR_M The switch is not currently managed by the controller and i am not sure if its possible to change the speeds through the switch on individual ports but the hard wired items in the house are getting around 800 meg. The model of the switch is TL-SG3428

@AndyH69 Do you get the slow speeds even on the root of the mesh? What happens if you take one of the meshing APs and plug it directly into the switch? Do you get the same slow speed?

@NeilR_M i still have to use the poe adapter as I don't seem to get any poe direct from switch. if I plug the AP in at the switch then I get about 140meg so it does get a bit better but still no where near what it should be

@NeilR_M I have now tried plugging the AP directly into the back of the Router and I now only get 7 to 8 meg, when using the wifi but i can see that the sky router now has a connection speed of 1000mbps. I have checked all the hard wired items and they are all getting over 700mbps from the switch box. is there a setting in the AP to increase the speed allowed over the WIFi although it was ok previously

Regards

Andy

@AndyH69 This is very strange behavior. In the Omada Controller there are rate limit settings you can check, but my first thought is to remove from the controller, factory reset the AP, then re-adopt to see if that fixes the speed.

Then, failing that, verify that the PoE adapter and the cables are all working properly. If all else fails, we can get you into the ticket system to have a technician do more in-depth testing with you.

@NeilR_M I now have the managed switch up and running I have reset all the AP's back to factory and the controller and have set the system back up from scratch. I still only have around 80meg over WIFI the only thing i would say is that now i can see the switch on the controller i can see the first AP in the system the wired one it is only getting 10/100mbps is this because thats all it is requesting?

@AndyH69 That's a great indicator, yes. Somehow the AP is negotiating a slower speed than rated, which usually indicates cable failure if your port configuration settings are proper.
